Mumbai Trekking Spots And Places Of Tourist Interest

Wendy Wayne

When we were small we used to go on picnics. The trekking is a similar experience that one person can enjoy. But, first one has to prepare for the trek.

Other than getting the necessary things like the backpack, the survival kit, medicines, water, and emergency rations, one only needs his or her clothes. Now to pick the place and any place near Mumbai should do. Here is a list of them.

Places of primary interest

Mumbai, being the entertainment centre of India, has lots to offer. But, other than the entertainment at the metropolis, it has many things of natural splendour to give. This includes places close to Mumbai such as these:

    1. Durshet
    1. Karnala Fort
    1. Karjat
    1. Malshej Ghat
    1. Matheran
    1. Khandala
    1. Kamshet
  1. Lonavala

After this, we have the places that we have to go some distance to see. These places of interest are at times better than the places of primary interest. These include the following:

    1. Saputara
    1. Bhandardara
    1. Jawahar
  1. Mahabaleshwer

Trek to Harishchandragad fort

This is an amazing place to go trekking in mumbai. The elevation of the place is 4,671 feet. Harishchandragad fort has enormous historic value but the scenes of nature are truly captivating. The combination of the forests and the mountains is a delight for all trekkers.

The preferred time for the trek is monsoon season. Trekkers go through the distance of 20 km, which is 100 km from Mumbai. But the trek in itself is easy without any rock climbing or swamp crossing to do. You have seven routes to the top of the fort but the preferred one is Khireshwar route because it is resplendent in beauty. This is a great way to escape from the city and its bustle.

Trek to Lingana

At the topmost peak of the Sahyadri range is the Linganna pinnacle. You have a fort at the peak and this entices many trekkers to this historic place. The best time for the trek is monsoon and the total length of the trek is 8 km. However, this trek is a tough one and you might be put to some hardship trying to complete the trek. The distance of the place from Mumbai is 213.4 km.

Trek to Kulang fort

This is a challenging climb on the mountain ridges. The Kulang fort is the last of the forts in the Kalsubai range. The elevation of the place is an astounding 4822 feet. Naturally, the view from the top is astonishing.

The trek is on rough terrain though the sight on all sides is lush and green. The splendid fort still retains its rustic charm though it has become old. The best time to make the trek is during the monsoon season. The distance of the place from Mumbai is 152 km. One will truly enjoy the trek if one has the toughness to make the trip. You can finish the trip in one single day.

Keep notes and bring back photographs of your trek. Share them online so more people become inspired to go trekking. Indeed, there is a whole world of exciting adventures waiting for those who will take the step.
