How To Check Level Of Oil In Tank Gauging System?

Wendy Wayne

There are several options that can help you check the level of oil in tank gauging system:

1. Remote reading gauging: This is one of the most used techniques because of its reliability. It starts with installing various machines for step-by-step level checking of oil. This method gives accurate prediction of how much oil is remaining in the tank. Level of tank from bottom is not similar in size. Therefore using normal mapping of level in tank becomes unpredictable. That makes utterly difficult for making sure how much oil is left because normal methods won’t give digital readings.

Thus using this method will let you know how much oil is left in accurate and effective manner. Mostly people think that it is a costly process but you can opt for various companies those are offering their services at very affordable prices.

2. Radars: Another digital method that technology has given us that is radar system. These are very reliable and efficacious products that give correct information about how much oil is left in the tank.

It works by sending signals into tanks and then receiving those signals on trans-receivers. Eco of signals changes differently in air and liquid depending on length of it. Variations in eco-signals gives almost correct idea of oil is remaining in the tank. Best quality that this system has that is maintenance-free. You need not have to put any efforts for checking level of oils in the tank.

Indubitably, there are several benefits of this method of tank gauging:

a) These methods are utterly reliable and effective.

b) It saves lot of precious time.

c) Minimal effort is require for checking it manually.

d) Accurate predictions are most important merit that is provided by this method.

3. Direct reading gauging: It is the oldest way of checking level of oil in tanks. All process in this method is done manually and with some basic tools that are not at all expensive. In this method a stick, folding rule or a string with weight is used for measurement. These tools are placed into oil tank to locate the bottom of the tank.

Now deepness of oil in the tank is calculated by this measurement that is marked on this stick. It is not so accurate way of measurement because base of tank is not akin in size but it gives vague idea of how much it is filled with oil (quarter, half, half and quarter or full).

Points that you should keep in mind while measuring level of oil in tank gauging system tanks:

1. Don’t break part of any tank while opening the oil tanks.

2. Follow the instructions while opening tanks as they are designed for stopping gas and oils out from it.

3. Productivity of oil may decrease if tank is not properly checked or closed after checking.

4. Water and fuel leakage are also important factors that should be checked after selected period of time because it affects oil levels.
