[Photos] Before I die...

If you're ever in the New Orleans area, this single building offers a pretty vague question on the corner of Marigny and Burgundy street for you to answer. Free chalks! Quote from the artists: "Before I Die transforms neglected spaces into constructive ones where we can learn the hopes and aspirations of the people around us."

After:

Once in a while, the wall is cleaned and new entries can be added but, everything is noted and the best bits will be added in a book. A website is also in production.

[Music video] J Mascis - Not Enough

Wow, this video is amazing. We don't really listen to this type of music (it's not bad though) but this stop-motion is crazy. The video was created by Chad VanGaalen. I can only imagine the amount of time this had to take to make. This trippy video is three minutes long, check it out!

[Music Video] Denzil Porter - On the plains

So this guy, Denzil Porter, has been brought to our attention recently. He's a newcomer from the Bronx and just released a new video. Not bad at all if you ask me, but you'll be the judges.

[Music video] Nero - Guilt

Nero just released his official music video for his single "Guilt". The video is three minutes long, it's just old japanese dudes in a stripclub, doing what old men in stripclubs do, stare at strippers. I have a feeling that the creative team behind the video were somewhat inspired by Gaspard Noé' "Enter the Void". File this video under another bad electronic music video, they really need to step their game up.

[Music] Lady Gaga - Born This Way (Official Country Road Version)

Lady Gaga released this morning a country version of her mega hit "Born This Way" on her youtube channel. Check it out.

[Typography video] Lupe Fiasco - Break The Chain (ft. Eric Turner & Sway)

If you like music videos with flashing images and words rapidly projected on the screen, check this out. I'm not quite sure what this is. I don't believe it's the official music video for Lupe's "Break The Chain" and I hope it isn't, because that would be completely unoriginal. The video was designed and produced by Guerella Design, so I guess it's them just showcasing to the world what they can do!

[Music] B.o.B - No Future (Odd Future diss)

Tyler, The Creator tweeted he doesn't like B.o.B's "Airplanes" song. So B.o.B's made a "diss track", he doesn't killl him, if it's a diss, it's weak, as Tyler points out.

[Song of the Week]'The Computer' Joachim Garraud( The Boomzers & Joachim Garraud rmx)

It's friday. Fuck Rebecca Black. We ain't waiting for the bus : it's the song of the week and this one is hardcore. Joachim Garraud, big eletro producer, worked with The Boomzers to remix one of his own tune. Result: a heavy hard electro beat.

[Video] "Le Flâneur" by Luke Shepard

Wow, here's a great stop-motion/time lapse video by Luke Shepard, student at The American University of Paris. In his national geographic interview, it says the video is composed of over 2000 images of Paris, the project started in March and ended in June, he claims he spent at least 100 hours on the entire project. It's a stunning video with incredible images. Add the fact you got the song "Intro" by The XX, and you've got a winner.

[Music] 'On and On' - Mac Miller

It hasn't been a month since Best Day Ever was released and we already have a fresh new track from Mac Miller. Grab it here and the mixtape as well if you haven't. It'll be on the new EP, containing 2 new tracks, 2 old works and two others from Best Day Ever (I don't see the point here). Drops March 29th.

Thanks to illroots for the sound! XLLmag for the EP updates

[Music] Young Jeezy ft. Lil Wayne - Ballin

New track that just got leaked on RapRadar an hour ago. Wayne's been busy these days (when isn't he), the song doesn't seem like the finished product though.

[News] OMG, LOL & FYI enter the Oxford English Dictionnary

Title is self-explanatory. LOL, FYI and OMG are officially in the Oxford English Dictionnary. They now join IMHO (in my honest opinion) and BFF as the other internet/text initialisms in the Oxford dictionnary. And that is, the odd news of the day.

[Music] Timbaland ft. Attitude - F*ck you

[Music] Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang (White Noise remix)

In some rather unexpected news today, here's White Noise's remix of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang"(which is a cover of Cher's second single). If the title of the song sounds familiar, it was used in the opening title sequence for Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill". Check out the remix, I'm not quite sure how to feel about this one, I sometimes prefer that some songs don't get touched/remixed. I think this might be one of them.

[Music video] Tyga - Well Done

New music video by Tyga for his single Well Done from his "Well Done mixtape". It's really the type of song that you don't pay any attention to the lyrics, like none. Type of song you bump your head to (beat is pretty good), while driving but turn it down when you're at a red light. The graphics in the background are pretty good too.

[Music Video] Steve Aoki & Sidney Samson - Wake Up Call

The video for Steve Aoki's "Wake Up Call" just premiered roughly thirty minutes ago. It stars Michelle Rodriguez (that chick that rides the helicopter in Avatar). Production quality of the video is allright, the editing could've been better though. The video doesn't make sense, which seems to be a trend in electronic music videos these days. Check it out or Steve Aoki will jump on you.

[Chart] Why the NY Times paywall will fail

A couple of days ago, the NY Times instored their "paywall", where users can only have 20 free articles per month, once you've crossed the 20 articles limit, you have to pay. When they announced that we'll have to pay for the NY Times I wasn't too outraged or dissapointed, it's by far the best newspaper/news source in the world (in my opinion) so I would't mind paying a sum for it. But when they announced the prices, my mind changed quickly, those prices are ridiculous. There's no way I'm paying $15 a month just to have full access to the website.  It's $20/month for the site and tablet app, and it's $35/month to have full access (website, smartphone and tablet).

Here's a chart comparing the NY Times annual rate to other companies.

Does the Times really think that the general public will pay 455$/year for a digital subscription (most expensive package)?  As the understatement points out, you can have the 20 articles/month for free, subscribe to The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The Daily and still save 100$. You should have enough information with that.

But as Wired points out, the paywall can make sense financially for the Times, with the increased value of the ads behind the paywall and other reasons (read the article).

However, The NY Times is taking a big risk and I wish them luck because they have a great product but with already so many sites explaining how easy it is to disable the paywall, I don't see how the NY Times paywall can be successful unless they considerably lower their prices.

[Music Video] News from Fleet Foxes and Metronomy and TVOR

It's not our usual post but hey, I know you're good for it. Metronomy,Fleet Foxes, TVOR each released a new single. Both making totally unrelated music, but I guess they deserve more spotlight. They're unrelated Son,but it's a good opportunity to widen your horizon: they're all amazing.

The new single from Fleet Foxes, Battery Kinzie, is the second one we get to hear since they'd already given us Helplessness Blues for free New album,  out on May 3rd,  if it's as good as the first one, prepare to be delighted.  From what I see now, they haven't lost that folk touch we love.

In a totally different tone, we have the first single of Metronomy's new album The English Riviera (TBA). If you don't know them, picture them as the illegitimate son between 80s synth music and modern indie rock... just listen and watch this  little video.

You're probably wondering or already guess what TVOR stands for: TV on the Radio. New single, new video, new album, Nine Types of Light, out April 12th. I must have lost by now so just enjoy the video!

Nuff' said!

HBO, the major channel that brought us amazing shows like Entourage, The Sopranos, The Wire and many others just released an amazing trailer for their upcoming TV movie Cinema Verite. It relates the making of the American Life, a show that followed around the Loud family in the 70s and that is now considered one of the reality show's ancestor. [Music] Dr.Dre - My Prescription (ft. Slim Tha Mobster & Nikki Grier)

Another leaked track from Dr. Dre's upcoming album "Detox".  This is maybe an unfinished version of the song or maybe it was just simply cut off. [News] Busy P displeased with Tron remix album, slams Disney

In somewhat surprising news today, Busy P (Daft Punk's former manager from 96-08, founder of Ed Banger Records) released a statement on his blog entitled TRON R3J3CT3D. I say somewhat surprised because I figured that Daft Punk would've been involved in this project but Busy P doesn't think so.

"How can you take my robot friends so far away from good taste? I am 100% sure the Daft boys were not involved in this (sad) project"

He goes on to say : "Of course some of it is nice, and you know there are some of my friends on this CD.

But this is not enough!

A masterpiece like TRON soundtrack deserved the best and I am sad to discover the A&R at Disney records is apparently buying most of his electronic music in airports stores…" BOOM! SHOTS FIRED!

Hey, if you've managed history's greatest electronic music act for over a decade and you're the founder of (in my opinion) the best electronic music label in the world, Ed Banger Records, you can say whatever the hell you want. His opinion matters, I was just surprised that he wasn't somewhat involved in this project, bad move from Disney in my opinion.

He also says that Disney rejected Goose's remix for "The son of flynn", thus why the R3J3CT3D in the title, listen to goose's remix! It's great!
